Iron ore concentrate
Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), also known as sponge iron, is a type of iron produced from the direct reduction of iron ore in the form of lumps, pellets, or fines without the melting process typically associated with traditional ironmaking methods such as blast furnace production.
Here’s some information about Direct Reduced Iron:
Production Process: DRI is produced by the reduction of iron oxides (usually hematite or magnetite) using a reducing gas, such as natural gas or hydrogen, at relatively low temperatures
(about 800-10500C) in a direct reduction furnace. This process removes the oxygen from the iron ore, leaving behind a metallic
iron product.
